Weekend Silent Centering Prayer Retreat

With Sr. Anna-Camille Wooden, OSB

October 18 - 20, 2024
This in person retreat is the perfect place for those new to Centering Prayer and silent retreats to begin, as well as for experienced practitioners to have a chance to sit with others and experience a weekend of silence and rest. We will gather on Friday night to set our intention for the weekend and then begin our silence after a Centering Prayer sit. We will sit together throughout the week-end, maintaining silence in between our sits and then end with a gathering on Sunday afternoon to share our experience. There will also be an opportunity to do a group…

Day of the Dead: Grieving Mexican Style Retreat

With Paz Vital, OSB, PhD

November 2, 2024
St Placid Spirituality Center
Day of the Dead Retreat; A weekend where we will learn the real meaning of this Festive Celebration. We will merge two ancient traditions. In the Monastic tradition; the Rule of Benedict says: “Keep death daily before your eyes”, and in the Mexican Tradition we celebrate: “Dia de los Muertos”. Join Sister Paz in this traditional adventure where you will learn how to create your own Offering altar for the Day of the Dead, and you will practice "Statio," a solemn monastic procession. We will sing in “Spanglish”, remember our losses and see the joy in all of them.

Hybrid: Contemplative Rest Practice on First Saturdays Monthly

With M Freeman

November 2, 2024
This Contemplative Rest Practice series is open to those who have taken a Contemplative Rest retreat with M Freeman. Each session offers opportunities for awe-savoring, somatic, guided meditations by M and silent resting-in-awe practice together as well as gentle time for group sharing, connecting, and cherishing the transporting benefit of communal contemplative practice. “All living beings will profit from your relaxation and energy. This is the most basic kind of peace work,” Thich Nhat Hanh writes in How to Relax. And when we practice together? “The energy is amplified,” he writes, “and you will create a powerful collective energy…for your…

Intensive Silent Centering Prayer Retreat

With Sr. Anna-Camille Wooden, OSB and Michele Jankanish

November 10 - 15, 2024
This retreat, called an “Intensive Retreat” by Contemplative Outreach, provides an opportunity to deepen your established Centering Prayer practice in an atmosphere of silence and community, away from the busyness of daily life, and to allow your mind, body and spirit to surrender to God’s presence and action within. It has an educational component to immerse you both in the practice of Centering Prayer and, increasingly, in the conceptual background of the spiritual practice. Each day there will be about three and a half hours of Centering Prayer, ranging from 20 to 30-minute periods of prayer, some back-to-back with a…

P.A.U.S.E. retreat: Prayer and Understanding Silent Experiences

With Kathy Holley, PhD

November 23, 2024
At our P.A.U.S.E. retreat, we gather to rest, explore Christian Contemplative Prayer, and set our intention on being present together in God’s omnipresence. While conversing with God in prayer is vital, contemplative rest in His presence is equally important for fostering an intimate connection with Him. Within this Christian discipline are elements of spiritual formation, soul care, holistic healing, deepening faith, and knowing God: “...Be still, and know that I am God...” (Psalm 46:10). During our retreat, we pause from the busyness of life, releasing distractions to gain a deeper understanding of resting silently in God’s presence and receiving rest…
