Zoom: The Urban Mystic
With Jerry DeVore
February 13, 2021
In this mini-retreat we will explore contemplative practices that help urban mystics in their mystical experiences: Balancing psychological input from Carl Jung’s teachings on Active Imagination, the Benedictine influence of Lectio Divina in an extended form, and the Jesuit influence from the perspectives and practices of Karl Rahner and the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. The workshop will focus on practices and contemplative journaling. The practices aim to reduce the obstacles to encountering the sacred. The urban mystic doesn’t have to be a saint – only to be grounded in the earth and surrounded by a vast awesomeness
