1961 – New Life!

January 1 – The year opens with a ground-breaking ceremony and the beginning of the construction of the new Saint Placid Priory and High School.

July 11 – Sister Catherine Bannon made her monastic profession, the first mother  and Grandmother in our community. Her son, John, became a priest later in life. And her great grandson, Benjamin Bray, was recently ordained for the Archdiocese of Seattle. Another community “first” for her!

Sept. 24 – Five postulants entered at the new priory: Kay (Lucy) Wynkoop, Sharon McDonald, Joan Helm, Pat Gallagher, and Michaela Mattfield.
