1955 – New Growth
June – The first issue of The Placidian was printed and distributed, a newsletter to inform the public about community life and to keep our friends informed on fundraising and building of a new Motherhouse and High School.
September – Saint Ann’s School and Convent opened. Sisters Daniel (Magdalen) Kiefel, Clarilla Ernster, Leonissa Imdieke, and Nathalie Karels with several lay teachers began the school year.
October 5 (then Feast of Saint Placid) – Abbot Raphael Heider commits to gifting our community with land for a priory and high school. Which portion would depend on where the future I-5 would cut through Abbey lands.
